Ballard-type cut rifling, a factory-tapped solid-top receiver, and upgrades that include an aluminum Picatinny/Weaver rail and an offset hammer spur make this .30-30 an immediately ready platform for optics while retaining classic lever-gun handling.

This 336XLR comes from the inaugural 2006 run produced in Marlin’s North Haven, Connecticut facility, predating the Remington acquisition. Collectors value these early XLRs for their build quality and limited production time frame.
The 24-inch stainless barrel delivers increased sight radius and velocity, while its Ballard-type cut rifling is favored by handloaders for consistent bullet seating and excellent accuracy with modern ammunition such as Hornady LEVERevolution.
A satin stainless receiver, barrel, and hardware combine with grey/black laminated hardwood stocks to create a rifle built for harsh weather. The pistol-grip stock features cut checkering, a fluted comb, and a rubber recoil pad for secure, comfortable shouldering.
Factory side ejection and pre-drilled receiver holes are complemented by the installed Picatinny/Weaver rail, giving the shooter immediate flexibility for scopes or red dots while retaining the hooded brass-bead front sight. An offset hammer spur ensures positive cocking clearance with optics.
Safety features include a hammer-block cross-bolt safety and traditional half-cock notch, providing both modern and classic safeguards during field use.
