Remington Model 700 SPS Stainless Bolt-Action Rifle in Rare .300 Savage, 24" Sporter Barrel, 2003 Production
This first-year 2003 Model 700 SPS Stainless stands out for its factory-chambered .300 Savage—an uncommon option in the 700 line. Built on Remington’s renowned “three rings of steel” action and finished in corrosion-resistant stainless, it pairs rugged construction with a user-adjustable X-Mark Pro trigger and a sporter-weight, 24-inch barrel. An installed one-piece Picatinny rail rounds out a ready-to-scope package that appeals to hunters, shooters, and collectors alike.

The rare .300 Savage chambering makes this SPS Stainless a noteworthy find, especially for collectors interested in niche factory offerings. Only a small number of Model 700s left the factory in this caliber, adding intrinsic scarcity to the rifle’s appeal.
Produced in 2003—its inaugural year—the SPS Stainless combines Remington’s classic short-action receiver with full stainless-steel barreled action for enhanced weather resistance. Proof marks “WX,” the oval “REP,” and inspector stamp “H” remain visible on the barrel.
The 24-inch sporter-contour barrel features a 1:10 right-hand twist suited to a broad range of .300 Savage bullet weights. Stainless construction resists corrosion, while the polished/blued contrast from prior refinishing gives the rifle a distinctive appearance without affecting function.
Remington’s user-adjustable X-Mark Pro trigger allows precise pull-weight tuning, and the hinged floorplate magazine holds four rounds. The black synthetic stock sports a Monte Carlo comb, textured grip panels, and a soft rubber recoil pad, bringing durability and practical ergonomics to field use.
An aftermarket one-piece Picatinny rail is already installed on the factory drilled-and-tapped receiver, simplifying optic mounting and saving the buyer both time and expense.
