IMI Uzi Model A Carbine 9mm Pre-Ban Semi-Automatic with Folding Stock
Imported by Action Arms between 1980 and 1983, this Israeli-made IMI Uzi Model A Carbine is one of roughly 37,000 civilian Uzis that entered the United States before the 1989 import ban. It fires from a closed bolt for improved accuracy, meets ATF requirements, and retains the iconic Uzi profile in a semi-automatic, 16-inch configuration that appeals to shooters and collectors alike.

What’s Included
- IMI Uzi Model A Carbine 9mm
- Four 32-round steel Uzi magazines
The Model A is the first civilian Uzi variant offered in the U.S., built on a robust stamped-steel receiver finished in durable parkerizing. Its 16-inch chrome-moly steel barrel extends the sight radius and is serialized to match the receiver—the last three digits appear on the muzzle for quick verification.
A straight-blowback, closed-bolt, hammer-fired action delivers reliable cycling while enhancing shot-to-shot precision compared with the original open-bolt design. A top-mounted reciprocating charging handle retains classic Uzi ergonomics and gives straightforward access for chamber checks.
Safety is managed by a grip safety and a selector block safety, both factory configured for semi-automatic fire only. The folding sheet-steel stock locks solidly when extended yet folds compactly for transport, and the ribbed polymer handguard keeps the support hand secure and insulated from barrel heat.
Iron sights consist of a hooded front post adjustable for elevation and a two-position flip rear aperture graduated for 100 and 200 meters, allowing quick adaptation to different distances.
With its pre-ban status, matching barrel serialization, and limited import numbers, this Model A offers a blend of collectible appeal and practical range performance.
