A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 16 Gauge Side-by-Side, 26" Barrels, 1930 Utica Production
This 1930 A.H. Fox Sterlingworth is a classic American side-by-side built during the first year of Savage Arms’ ownership. Chambered in 16 gauge with 26-inch “Sterlingworth Fluid Compressed Steel” barrels and factory chokes measuring Modified and Improved Cylinder, it offers the balance and handling that made the Sterlingworth name famous. A color case-hardened receiver, double triggers, and automatic tang safety complete the period-correct configuration, while an aftermarket recoil pad extends the length of pull to a comfortable 14.75 inches.

What’s Included
- A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 16 Gauge side-by-side shotgun
Made in Utica and marked “FOX STERLINGWORTH” on the receiver and “MADE BY SAVAGE ARMS CORP. UTICA N.Y. U.S.A.” on the rib, this shotgun sits squarely in the desirable transition period between Philadelphia and Utica production. Collectors appreciate this block for its strong machining quality and clear roll marks.
The 26-inch barrels feature a solid matted rib and a brass bead front sight for quick alignment. Chokes gauge at Modified in the right tube and Improved Cylinder in the left, a versatile pairing for upland hunting or clays.
Steel-on-steel construction, a color case-hardened frame, and the original double-trigger, extractor-only layout stay true to the Sterlingworth design ethos. The automatic tang safety engages positively every time the action is opened.
The walnut stock retains its factory checkering pattern on the pistol grip and splinter forend. A professionally fitted recoil pad with spacer stack increases the length of pull to 14.75 inches, making the gun comfortable for modern shooters without altering its classic lines.
