Ruger Red Label 20 Gauge Over/Under Shotgun – Early Fixed-Choke Blued Receiver, 26" Barrels
This first-generation Ruger Red Label is an early 20-gauge variant produced in 1980, identifiable by its blued, investment-cast steel receiver and factory fixed chokes. Weighing roughly 6.5 lb, it offers a lively feel in the hands while retaining the robust build that made the Red Label popular with upland hunters and collectors alike. A clean, shiny bore, sharp checkering, and classic gloss-walnut furniture highlight its well-kept condition.

Serial number prefix 400 indicates early production, when Ruger built the Red Label on a lightweight 20-gauge frame. These early guns feature fixed chokes—Improved Cylinder in the bottom barrel and Modified in the top—making them well-suited for most upland game and sporting clays scenarios without needing screw-in tubes.
The 26-inch steel barrels wear a ventilated rib and brass front bead for a clear sight picture. Chambers are cut for 3-inch shells, giving the shooter the option of light target loads or heavier field ammunition.
An investment-cast steel receiver, finished in deep blue, houses a single-selective trigger with automatic ejectors and a tang-mounted safety. Controls are crisp, and lock-up remains tight, reflecting limited use.
The gloss-walnut stock shows even color and sharp cut checkering on the pistol grip and beavertail forend. A factory recoil pad caps the 14-inch length of pull, providing a comfortable mount without adding unnecessary bulk.
