Nagoya Arsenal Type 99 Arisaka Series 0 Short Rifle 7.7 Japanese Bolt Action – Early WWII Capture
This early-production Series 0 Type 99 Arisaka was built at the Nagoya Arsenal and captured by U.S. forces after World War II. It retains its rare folding aircraft lead wings, original cleaning rod, and the pre-simplification machining that distinguishes early rifles. A low three-digit serial number (474) and intact Nagoya blossom proof add historical interest for collectors.

What’s Included
- Nagoya Arsenal Type 99 Arisaka Series 0 short rifle
- Original cleaning rod
Produced in the first Series 0 block, this rifle reflects the high machining standards seen before Japan’s mid-war simplification measures. The receiver still shows the Nagoya arsenal blossom, while the chrysanthemum has been ground in accordance with surrender policy, confirming its post-war capture status.
The 26-inch blued barrel is chambered for 7.7 Japanese and feeds from the standard five-round internal magazine. A bolt safety knob provides the traditional Arisaka locking system, and the action remains functional despite exterior wear.
The rifle retains its protected blade front sight and ladder rear sight with folding anti-aircraft wings—features often missing on later or heavily refurbished examples. Although the monopod was removed, the lug is still in place, underscoring the rifle’s original configuration.
The hardwood stock shows the correct finger grooves, side sling swivels, and cupped steel buttplate. Its medium orange-brown finish exhibits numerous service dings, yet the stock remains structurally sound with a 12.5-inch length of pull.
