Winchester Model 9422M Standard Grade Lever-Action .22 WMR, 20.5" Barrel (1973)
Early 1970s production Winchester 9422M rifles are prized for their forged steel receivers and smooth lever throw. This 1973 Standard Grade example combines those hallmarks with a high-polish blued finish, straight-grip walnut stock, and the hard-hitting .22 WMR chambering. Its clean bore, factory iron sights, and receiver scope grooves make it ready for small-game duty or range time, while collectors will appreciate its pre-XTR configuration and low “F” prefix serial.

What’s Included
- Winchester Model 9422M Standard Grade lever-action rifle
Introduced in 1972, the Model 9422M brought traditional Winchester lever-action styling to the .22 WMR cartridge. This rifle is an early “F” prefix example manufactured in 1973, retaining the forged steel receiver that later changed to alloy construction.
The 20.5" carbon-steel barrel feeds from an 11-round front-loading tubular magazine, offering reliable cycling with everything from varmint loads to full-power magnum rimfire rounds. Winchester proof markings are crisp on the barrel and receiver.
Factory sights include a hooded bead-and-post front mounted on a ramp and a drift-adjustable semi-buckhorn rear leaf. The receiver top is cut with 3/8" grooves, allowing quick installation of rimfire scope rings without gunsmithing.
An oil-finished straight-grip walnut stock and smooth forend give the rifle classic lever-gun ergonomics. The high-polish blued metal contrasts nicely with the dark walnut, reflecting Winchester’s attention to fit and finish during this era.
