The 20.5-inch chrome-lined barrel and gas system resist corrosion and simplify maintenance, a notable upgrade over early Soviet SKS production. The short-stroke gas piston action cycles smoothly and feeds from the original 10-round fixed magazine, combining reliability with mild recoil.
Factory-cut finger grooves in the hardwood forend provide a secure grasp, while the vent-slotted wooden upper handguard aids barrel cooling during sustained fire. The matte blued steel receiver, barrel, and bolt carrier preserve a uniform military finish that complements the light orange-brown stock.
Standard military iron sights include a hooded post front and a tangent notch rear, giving shooters precise elevation adjustments out to 1,000 meters. An intact cleaning rod stows under the barrel, and the spike bayonet folds neatly under the muzzle when not in use.
Import markings reading "NORINCO SKS 7.62 CHINA" confirm civilian entry while leaving the original Chinese arsenal stamp visible on the receiver. Combined with its 1966 serial block, this rifle represents a desirable piece of Cold War history.
