Jennings Firearms J-22 .22 LR Micro Pocket Pistol – Early Nickel-Plated Variant with Walnut Grips
This early-production Jennings J-22 represents one of the original Southern-California “Ring-of-Fire” pocket pistols. Finished in bright nickel and fitted with walnut grip panels, it carries the cursive “Jennings Firearms” script and rabbit logo that identify it as a pre-Bryco/Jimenez gun. Compact even by modern standards, the 2.5-inch-barreled J-22 was designed for deep concealment while still chambering the affordable .22 LR cartridge.

The J-22 uses a striker-fired, blowback action housed in a Zamak-3 zinc-alloy frame and slide, with a steel barrel liner press-fitted for durability. This early serial range example retains the recessed muzzle feature that protects the crown inside the slide.
A bright nickel finish covers both frame and slide, offering corrosion resistance and a distinctive look that contrasts with the walnut grips. Rear vertical serrations aid slide manipulation despite the pistol’s micro size.
Controls are straightforward: a heel-style magazine release and a frame-mounted thumb safety. Fixed sights—an integral front blade and rear square notch—keep the top profile smooth for pocket carry.
With production dating to the late 1970s–mid-1980s, this variant predates later branding changes and remains popular with collectors seeking original Jennings markings.
