National Postal Meter M1 Carbine .30 Carbine WWII Semi-Auto Rifle, 18" Barrel, Parkerized Finish
Produced in late 1943–1944, this National Postal Meter M1 Carbine combines scarce manufacturer pedigree with classic wartime features and a discreet modern upgrade. Serial number 4232XXX falls within the final National Postal Meter production block, adding collector appeal because the company was one of the least prolific prime contractors. An IBM-marked barrel and Saginaw SG recoil plate highlight the parts-pool interchangeability typical of World War II assembly lines, while the rifle retains its correct parkerized finish and hardwood furniture.

National Postal Meter built just over 6% of all M1 Carbines, and examples like this one—serialed in the final production run—remain increasingly difficult to find. The parkerized steel receiver and 18" barrel preserve the rifle’s wartime look while resisting corrosion.
The hardwood stock features the straight grip, oval sling cut-out, and two-rivet handguard typical of mid-war production. A stamped Type III adjustable rear sight and sling-swivel barrel band reflect arsenal upgrades implemented late in the conflict.
The short-stroke gas piston action delivers the fast, lightweight handling that made the M1 Carbine a favorite among paratroopers, support troops, and officers. Chambered in .30 Carbine, the rifle feeds from both 15- and 30-round magazines, offering a 30+1 capacity with the 30-rounder inserted.
An unobtrusive 3-slot accessory rail added under the barrel lets the owner mount modern lights or other gear without altering the receiver or handguard—providing versatility while keeping historical integrity intact.
