Marble Safety Axe Co. Game Getter Model 1908 Type I .22 LR/.44 Shot Shell Combination Gun, 15-Inch Barrel, Early 1910s Production
This early first-generation Marble Game Getter blends portability with dual-caliber versatility. Built between 1911 and 1913, it pairs a .22 LR rifled barrel over a proprietary .44 shot shell smoothbore, all in a compact 15-inch configuration that folds for easy carry. With fewer of these Type I guns surviving in shootable form, collectors value their lightweight design, folding wire stock, and distinctive curved-spur hammer with built-in striker selector.

The bore remains bright despite visible wear. The wire skeleton stock is slightly bent; it does not lock when folded but locks securely when extended.
What’s Included
- Marble Game Getter Model 1908 Type I combination gun
Webster Marble designed the Game Getter as a survival and camp gun, and this example shows the hallmarks of that vision. The break-open action holds two barrels in a compact, 2.25-pound package that folds nearly in half for holster carry.
The upper barrel is chambered for .22 LR, providing economical target or small-game capability. The lower smoothbore barrel accepts the original .44 shot shell, ideal for close-range pests. A single trigger and external hammer with sliding striker selector let the shooter choose either barrel instantly.
This Type I variant retains its folding multi-leaf rear sight and fixed front blade, allowing elevation adjustments out to 300 yards—an ambitious feature for such a light carbine. The detachable wire skeleton stock locks in place for shoulder firing and removes or folds for transport.
Serial number 3558 places this piece squarely within the pre-1934 production era of 15-inch-barreled Game Getters, adding era-specific collectibility. Despite honest field wear, all key components remain intact, making it a noteworthy addition for Marble enthusiasts and combination-gun collectors alike.
