This Charter Arms Explorer II frame is a rare, collectible component from the Stratford, Connecticut production line made before 1986. Built from textured matte-black aluminum alloy, it represents the pistol version of the storied AR-7 survival rifle and weighs in at well under 30 oz when complete. What’s Included
- Charter Arms Explorer II aluminum pistol frame (serial B034470)
Charter Arms engineered the Explorer II as a compact, semi-automatic companion to the AR-7 survival rifle. To prevent cross-compatibility with rifle barrels, the receiver was machined with an offset barrel pin and threaded collar unique to the pistol. Two elongated lightening slots in the receiver further trimmed weight, resulting in a remarkably handy platform once assembled.
This frame is produced from aluminum alloy and finished in a durable matte-textured black, offering both corrosion resistance and reduced carry weight. An integral grip frame includes a rear lanyard-loop hole—true to the original Charter Arms design.
Because it is a frame only, key components such as barrel, bolt, side plate, sights, magazine, and grip panels will need to be sourced separately. Frames are not classified as Curio & Relic under current BATFE guidelines and must ship to an FFL holder.
