Product Description

    Springfield Armory 1903 Bolt-Action Rifle, .30-06, 1918 Production

Built in late 1918, this Springfield Armory Model 1903 embodies the final World War I configuration with a high-number, double-heat-treated receiver—regarded by collectors as the safest production range. The barrel is correctly dated 11-18 and remains matched to the receiver, adding desirable authenticity. Retaining its original M1905 tangent ladder sight, straight-grip S-stock with grasping grooves, and rust-blued metal surfaces, this rifle offers a well-preserved example of America’s standard infantry arm at the close of the Great War.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Good – clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Rifling: Good rifling – intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Light surface scratches are present on the metalwork, and the stock shows mild handling marks consistent with age.

    What’s Included

    • Springfield Armory Model 1903 bolt-action rifle (.30-06)

This rifle features the sought-after double-heat-treated receiver, falling safely within the high-number range. Collectors prize these receivers for their improved strength over earlier single-heat-treated variants.

The matched 24-inch carbon-steel barrel carries a correct 11-18 Springfield Armory stamp, confirming period accuracy. Bore and rifling remain in good condition, supporting both shootability and collectibility.

An original M1905 tangent ladder rear sight and pinned blade front sight are intact, providing the authentic sight picture of the 1918 service rifle. No Pedersen-device ejection port has been machined into the receiver, preserving the rifle’s original configuration.

The walnut straight-grip S-stock displays grasping grooves and dual cross-bolts, characteristic of late-war production. An oil finish highlights the grain while the buttplate with trapdoor still accommodates a cleaning kit.
