Iver Johnson M1 Carbine .30 Carbine Semi-Automatic Rifle, 18" Barrel, 30-Round, 1980s Production
Built in the 1980s, this Iver Johnson M1 Carbine combines classic U.S. military styling with commercial manufacturing refinements. A limited AA-prefix serial block of under 10,000 units adds mild collector interest, while its cast-steel receiver and bolt remain fully interchangeable with USGI parts. The ventilated steel hand-guard—unique to Iver Johnson—helps dissipate heat during extended firing, and the rifle retains the familiar low-wood stock, Type II adjustable rear sight, and compatible GI-pattern components.

What’s Included
- 1 × 30-round detachable .30 Carbine steel magazine (commercial pattern, unmarked)
The cast-steel receiver and bolt mirror USGI dimensions, allowing direct parts interchange without fitting. This makes the rifle attractive for shooters who want reliable access to surplus components and upgrades.
Iver Johnson’s ventilated steel hand-guard was marketed to reduce barrel heat and adds a distinctive profile compared to standard wooden guards. The hand-guard’s vents run the full length, aiding airflow during rapid fire.
The medium-brown hardwood stock is the desirable low-wood pattern with a sling/oiler cut-out and a flat checkered steel butt-plate. Length of pull measures 13.25", delivering a familiar feel for anyone accustomed to military-spec carbines.
Sighting is handled by a wing-protected post front and a fully adjustable Type II aperture rear, preserving the proven M1 sight picture. The rifle’s USGI-compatible dovetail allows easy installation of aftermarket military drum sights or optics bases, if desired.
Chambered in .30 Carbine, the 18" barrel feeds from the included 30-round magazine, giving ample capacity for range sessions or competition. Overall weight and balance remain true to the original service carbine format, while the limited-run serial block adds a touch of collectability.
