Marlin Model 99G .22 LR Semi-Automatic Rifle – 22" Micro-Groove Barrel, 15-Round Tube, 1960s Production
Made for just three years in the mid-1960s, the Marlin Model 99G pairs the company’s renowned 16-groove Micro-Groove rifling with a generous 15-round tubular magazine. Sold through major retailers under the Glenfield label, this scarce variant predates the 1968 serial-number mandate and includes a factory-grooved alloy receiver for 3⁄8-inch tip-off scope mounts. Collectors value its short production run, while shooters appreciate its reliable direct-blowback action and classic birch stock.

What’s Included
- Marlin Model 99G .22 LR semi-automatic rifle
Produced circa 1963–1965, the Model 99G represents Marlin’s transitional period before the long-running Model 60. Its 15-round capacity surpasses later capacity-restricted versions, offering extended plinking or small-game sessions without frequent reloads.
The 22" barrel uses 16-groove Micro-Groove rifling, a Marlin innovation that promotes consistent accuracy with standard-velocity .22 LR loads. Despite the affordable Glenfield branding, the rifle retains the same barrel technology found on higher-priced Marlin lines.
An alloy receiver keeps weight manageable and comes factory-cut with 3⁄8-inch grooves, allowing the owner to add tip-off optics without gunsmithing. Iron sights include a ramped gold-bead front and an elevation-adjustable semi-buckhorn rear, making the rifle ready to shoot as-is.
The full-size birch hardwood stock provides a 13.5" length of pull and a natural finish that contrasts nicely with the blued steel. Combined with the direct blowback action, the rifle offers smooth cycling and classic 1960s styling.
