Colt Mustang MK IV Series 80 .380 ACP Micro 1911 Pistol – 1987 Steel-Slide/Alloy-Frame, 2.75" Barrel
This early-production 1987 Colt Mustang MK IV Series 80 is one of the first micro-sized 1911-pattern pistols, built with a blued steel slide and lightweight aluminum-alloy frame. Compact, collectible, and chambered in .380 ACP, it offers classic Colt single-action handling in a platform small enough for discreet carry yet desirable for its short, discontinued production run from 1986-1997.

Introduced in 1986, the Colt Mustang quickly earned a following as a true micro 1911, and this 1987 example represents the original configuration that collectors look for. The 2.75-inch barrel is housed in a slide without a barrel bushing, keeping the profile slim while retaining Series 80 firing-pin block safety features.
The matte blued slide wears rear cocking serrations for positive grip, while the matte black anodized alloy frame keeps weight down without sacrificing durability. Checkered black polymer grips with silver Colt medallions provide secure purchase and add a classic factory touch.
Operational controls mirror full-size 1911s: single-action trigger, push-button magazine release, left-side thumb safety, and a commander-style rowel hammer. Fixed iron sights—a ramped front blade and drift-adjustable rear notch—maintain a snag-free profile suitable for concealed carry.
With production of the original steel-slide/aluminum-frame Mustang ending in 1997, clean early examples like this have become increasingly hard to find. Its excellent bore, smooth mechanics, and lightly handled exterior make it a strong candidate for both shooting enjoyment and long-term collection value.
