Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle 187-Series .223 Rem Pre-Ban 18.5" (1988 MFD)
Built in 1988, this 187-series Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle predates the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, making it a true pre-ban example. It pairs the classic Mini-14 gas system with integral scope bases, a thin pencil barrel, and a hardwood stock, offering collectors and shooters an early Ranch Rifle configuration that is increasingly hard to find in this condition.

What’s Included
- Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle 187-Series
- 2 Ruger 5-round steel magazines
- Ruger factory scope rings (installed)
This early Ranch Rifle features Ruger’s integral scope bases machined directly into the receiver, allowing solid optic attachment without additional mounts.
The rifle retains the self-cleaning fixed-piston gas system and Garand-style operating rod that give the Mini-14 its reputation for reliability. The pre-580 pencil barrel profile keeps weight down and maintains the classic look of the original design.
The hardwood stock carries a smooth satin lacquer finish with a semi-pistol-grip and factory sling swivel studs. A ventilated black polymer handguard protects the shooter’s hand during sustained fire.
Iron sights include a non-hooded blade front and a folding aperture rear, offering a clear, fast sight picture. With its 1:9 right-hand twist, the 18.5-inch alloy steel barrel stabilizes a wide range of .223 Rem. bullet weights.
