Created to honor the centennial of John Wayne’s birth, this Winchester Model 1892 High Grade carbine combines classic Old West styling with factory embellishments worthy of a commemorative piece. One of only 4,000 produced in 2007, it features deep scroll engraving, nickel-nitride metalwork, and a large-loop lever that recalls Wayne’s on-screen rifles. Collectible status, limited production, and high-grade finish make this carbine stand out to shooters and collectors alike.

This High Grade Model 1892 is finished in a durable nickel-nitride silver/grey coating that sets off the deep factory scroll engraving on the receiver. The artwork includes John Wayne portrait motifs and centennial banners, capped by a gold-filled facsimile of Wayne’s signature on the barrel and a silver medallion inset into the walnut buttstock.
The carbine retains the classic 18.5-inch round barrel and full-length nine-round tubular magazine chambered in .44-40 Winchester, a cartridge closely associated with frontier lever guns. A 1-in-36 twist stabilizes traditional lead or jacketed bullets for authentic performance.
Handling is true to its cinematic inspiration thanks to the oversized loop lever and a saddle ring on the receiver’s left side. The straight-grip walnut stock wears a satin oil finish, providing a period-correct look while keeping overall weight to just 6 pounds unloaded.
Iron sights consist of a brass blade front and ladder-style adjustable rear, while the top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount should the owner choose modern optics. Production by Miroku under Winchester supervision concluded in 2007, ensuring that no additional High Grade anniversary carbines will be made.
