The pistol features a 10 1/16-inch chrome-lined barrel that resists corrosion and makes cleaning straightforward. Although the barrel replicates the original smoothbore profile, Pedersoli adds a discreet flip-up rear leaf sight for practical elevation adjustment without compromising period aesthetics.
The flintlock action uses a gooseneck hammer and a half-cock safety notch, just like the military pistols produced at the Harper's Ferry Armory over two centuries ago. Modern CNC machining ensures crisp lock engagement and reliable spark generation for consistent ignition.
American walnut is hand-checkered and oil-finished to replicate original armory practices while enhancing grip. Brass furniture, including the buttcap and trigger guard, bears the “P U.S.” proof stamp, matching the look of government-issued pistols of the War of 1812 era.
At .58 caliber with a .575-inch bore, the pistol is sized for patched round ball or period-correct buck-and-ball loads. Its full-size frame, bright metal finish, and accurately shaped half-stock provide an authentic handling experience for reenactors, collectors, and black-powder enthusiasts alike.
