Stevens Model 55 Buckhorn .22 S/L/LR Bolt-Action Rifle – 24" Barrel, Rare 1935–1936 Production
The Stevens Model 55 Buckhorn is a seldom-seen, single-shot bolt-action rifle made for just two years under Savage Arms ownership. Fewer than 3,500 were produced, and this example retains its original 24-inch blued carbon-steel barrel and oil-finished walnut stock. Shipped without a serial number—as was legal before 1968—it represents a brief transitional moment in Stevens history, making it a noteworthy addition for collectors focused on American rimfire arms.

What’s Included
- Stevens Model 55 Buckhorn rifle
Produced only in 1935–1936, the Model 55 Buckhorn is one of the rarest Stevens rimfires. Its limited run makes surviving examples difficult to find, especially in functional condition.
This rifle chambers .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges, giving shooters flexibility at the range or in the field. The single-shot design keeps the action simple and reliable.
The 24-inch carbon-steel barrel is dovetail-fit with a blade front sight and a folding buckhorn rear leaf, providing a classic sight picture. The receiver is pre-drilled to accept a Lyman 55R or Stevens #106 peep sight, allowing a period-correct upgrade without additional gunsmithing.
An oil-finished walnut stock with a 13.25-inch length of pull blends durability with traditional styling. Combined with the original blued finish, it reflects the craftsmanship of Depression-era Stevens production.
Because the rifle predates the Gun Control Act of 1968, it left the factory without a serial number—an authentic detail that further underscores its collectible status.
