Built in 1995, this Ranch Rifle is a pre-580-series Mini-14 with the desirable slim 18.5 inch barrel. The receiver heel is marked "RUGER RANCH RIFLE CAL. .223" with the Southport, Conn. U.S.A. rollmark, aligning with its 1990s production and American manufacture.
The 188- serial prefix identifies its era and configuration.
The rifle is finished in blued alloy steel and paired with a one-piece hardwood stock. The stock has a straight comb and semi-pistol grip, uncheckered, with factory sling swivels. A ventilated black polymer upper handguard provides heat dissipation. Length of pull measures 12.5 inches.
It uses a semi-automatic, gas-operated system with a right-side operating rod/charging handle. The in-guard trigger-guard swing safety is easy to access, and the rifle feeds from detachable box magazines. Stated capacity is 30+1.
Iron sights include a protected front post and a flip-up rear aperture for fast, dependable alignment. The barrel terminates in a plain muzzle without additional devices, keeping the profile clean and traditional.
This example includes two factory-style metal magazines: one extended 30-round and one compact 5-round, providing flexibility for different uses.
