This rifle is a Springfield Armory M1 Garand produced in 1943 during WWII. The receiver heel is marked "U.S. RIFLE CAL. .30 M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY," and the serial number falls within the March 1943 range. It was made in the United States and follows the full-size M1 platform.
The action is gas-operated and semi-automatic with a rotating bolt. It uses the M1’s clip-loaded internal magazine, accepts 8-round en-bloc clips, and automatically ejects the clip after the last shot. The carbon steel barrel is the standard 24-inch configuration, chambered in .30-06 Springfield.
Sighting equipment includes an adjustable rear aperture with windage and elevation drums and a wing-protected front post. The rear sight is observed without a locking bar. The rifle retains standard GI sling and stacking swivels, and the gas cylinder, lock, and lock screw are present.
Furniture consists of a hardwood pistol-grip buttstock with two-piece handguards. The length of pull measures 13.0 inches. Metal surfaces show a parkerized gray finish over the receiver and other steel components.
