Built on a Winchester Repeating Arms receiver produced in 1942, this rifle represents WWII-era Winchester manufacture with the correct heel legend "U.S. RIFLE CAL. 30 M1 WINCHESTER TRADEMARK." It is a U.S.-made steel receiver with Parkerized finish, reflecting the period-appropriate look and protection.
Refurbished by CMP, this example features mixed USGI parts, including a Springfield Armory D28287-2 SA bolt (heat lot J9A). The gas cylinder lock screw is marked "P," and the rifle remains in standard USGI configuration with a 24 inch barrel and 8-round en-bloc clip feeding.
Chambered in .30-06, the rifle uses a semi-automatic, gas-operated long-stroke piston system with a rotating bolt. Sighting is via USGI iron sights: a wing-protected front blade and a rear aperture with windage and elevation knobs for precise adjustments.
The furniture is USGI hardwood with matching wood handguards. Stock features include a butt-trap compartment, a checkered steel buttplate, and sling swivels. Length of pull measures 13.0 inches, offering a classic USGI fit and handling.
Manufactured 1942 and refurbished by CMP, this Winchester-marked M1 Garand combines desirable WWII production with service-ready USGI features in a historically correct configuration.
