Produced by Ithaca in 1945 for U.S. military service, this M1911A1 carries the correct U.S. PROPERTY and M1911A1 U.S. ARMY markings, along with a P proof. Its serial number confirms 1945 production.
The pistol was later overhauled at Anniston Army Depot and is stamped ANAD 3 87, indicating a March 1987 rebuild.
The depot work retained its classic GI configuration. The refinish shows the characteristic two-tone parkerized appearance, with a darker slide over a lighter frame. Both frame and receiver are carbon steel, preserving the robust construction expected of wartime 1911s.
Controls and features are in the traditional pattern: single-action, short-recoil tilting-barrel operation; short trigger; arched mainspring housing; and frame relief cuts. Safety equipment includes a manual thumb safety, grip safety, inertial firing pin, and a half-cock notch. The magazine release is checkered for positive activation, and the slide has rear-only vertical serrations.
Sights are the fixed GI pattern, with a small front blade and matching rear notch. Brown fully checkered synthetic grips complete the service-correct look and provide secure purchase.
Capacity is 7+1 in .45 ACP, staying true to the standard U.S. service sidearm configuration of the era. The overall package aligns with what collectors value in a WWII-produced pistol that later received an official U.S. arsenal rebuild.
