- 1x 10-round steel single-stack magazine with long witness slot and concentric-ring follower button
Manufactured in 1937, this First Series Woodsman embodies the pre-war configuration prized by enthusiasts. The frame is marked "THE WOODSMAN," and the slide is roll-marked "COLT AUTOMATIC CAL. .22 LONG RIFLE" with the Rampant Colt emblem. The serial on the front strap confirms its circa-1937 First Series production.
The pistol features a 6 5/8 inch round, straight-taper barrel shouldered at the receiver, set up for target work. Sighting is by adjustable iron sights: an elevation-adjustable blade front on a slotted base and a windage-adjustable square-notch rear in a dovetail. The slide wears rear vertical serrations for positive manipulation.
Chambered in .22 LR with a 10+1 capacity, the pistol runs on a single-action blowback system. The heel-release magazine catch is correct for the era, and the included magazine follows the First Series pattern with a long witness slot and a concentric-ring follower button.
The pistol is built on a blued carbon steel frame with a high-polish pre-war finish and checkered walnut grips. Made in the USA, it represents Colt’s classic pre-war target pistol configuration with authentic period features.
