Built within the 1968–1975 production window, it features a blued finish, classic hardwood furniture with impressed checkering and fleur-de-lis accents, and iron sights. The receiver is drilled and tapped with a receiver-top scope base installed, and scope rings are included. Approximately 113,970 carbines were produced out of more than 1.4–1.5 million Model 742 rifles overall.
