Ruger Mark I Target .22 LR 6.875" 1960 Semi-Auto Pistol with Weaver Rail
Built in 1960 during the early, pre-prefix production run, this Ruger Mark I Target pairs a scarce 6 ⅞-inch heavy-taper barrel with factory silver-eagle grips. A Weaver 306 scope rail has been professionally installed in place of the rear sight, giving the pistol a solid mounting platform while preserving the fixed-barrel accuracy the series is known for. Collectors and target shooters alike will appreciate the clean bore, all-steel construction, and classic polished blue finish from Ruger’s Southport, Connecticut factory.

What’s Included
- Weaver 306 scope rail (installed)
- Ruger-branded plastic hard pistol case
- One 10-round Ruger factory magazine
The Mark I Target series is celebrated for its solid-frame, fixed-barrel design that delivers excellent accuracy. This example features the less common 6 ⅞-inch heavy-taper barrel, adding sight radius and forward balance without excess weight.
Early-production details include checkered black phenolic grips with silver-eagle medallions, a feature offered only from 1951–1963. The pistol’s pre-prefix serial number places it firmly within Ruger’s formative years.
A Weaver 306 rail replaces the original rear sight, ready for the shooter who prefers glass or red-dot optics. The Patridge-style front sight remains pinned to its ramped base, giving a clear, square sight picture when used with an optic.
The single-action trigger, heel-type magazine release, and manual safety retain the classic control layout of the Mark I line. All visible parts share a consistent polished blue finish that complements the steel construction.
