Remington Model 522 Viper .22 LR Semi-Automatic Rifle – Polymer Receiver, 20" Barrel
Introduced in the mid-1990s, the Remington 522 Viper was one of the first rimfire rifles built entirely around a synthetic receiver and stock. Its lightweight polymer construction, 20-inch bonded blued-steel barrel, and last-shot bolt hold-open set it apart from traditional .22 LR semi-autos, giving collectors and shooters a glimpse of Remington’s early foray into all-synthetic firearm design.

What’s Included
- Remington 522 Viper rifle
- One factory 10-round detachable magazine
The 522 Viper employs a simple blowback action chambered for widely available .22 LR ammunition. A cross-bolt safety and magazine-disconnect safety add straightforward, familiar controls for rimfire shooters.
The polymer receiver and stock are molded as a single assembly, permanently bonded to the 20" blued-steel barrel. This design reduces weight and eliminates the need for receiver bedding, resulting in quick handling and a consistent point of impact.
An integral 3⁄8" tip-off rail sits atop the receiver, allowing easy attachment of rimfire rings while preserving the factory iron sights. The ramped front blade pairs with a fully adjustable rear notch to give shooters a clear sight picture right out of the box.
Remington produced approximately 244,000 Vipers between 1993 and 1998, making this model an interesting snapshot of the era when major manufacturers experimented with all-synthetic rimfire platforms. Its Monte Carlo stock, molded checkering, and 13.25" length of pull provide a comfortable fit for most adult shooters.
