Browning Superposed Lightning 12 Gauge Over/Under, Belgium FN, 28 in Special Steel Barrels, 1960
This Belgian-made Browning Superposed Lightning Grade I was manufactured in 1960 and features 28 inch Special Steel barrels. It carries factory light scroll engraving, a ventilated, matted rib with red front bead, and the classic long-tang, round-knob walnut stock. Marked with Belgian Liège proofs and the dual North American Browning address, this is a pre–salt-wood era example with matching serial numbers on the receiver, barrel monoblock, and forend.

What’s Included
- Browning Superposed Lightning Grade I 12 Gauge over/under shotgun (1960) with 28 inch Special Steel barrels
Belgian FN manufacture and Grade I Lightning engraving define this example. The receiver, top lever, and trigger guard show factory light scroll, and the floorplate is marked Lightning Browning with the Browning bust emblem. Belgian Liège proof marks, Made in Belgium, and the Browning Arms Company St Louis Mo. & Montreal P.Q. barrel rollmark are present.
The 28 inch Special Steel barrels are chambered for 2 3/4 inch shells. A ventilated, matted rib with a red front bead provides a clean sighting plane consistent with field use.
The break-action over/under layout uses a single, gold-colored trigger and tang safety, with properly timed ejectors and a two-round capacity. Matching serial numbers are present on the receiver, barrel monoblock, and forend.
The walnut furniture includes a checkered, round-knob pistol grip stock with the desirable long tang and a slim field-style forend. An aftermarket ventilated rubber recoil pad with a white-line spacer sets the length of pull at 14.0 inches. As a 1960 production gun, it is from the pre–salt-wood era.
