Introduced in 1947 and discontinued around 1968, the Model 521-T Junior Special was designed as a target-oriented .22 LR rifle built in Ilion, New York. The barrel rollmark lists patent numbers 1,808,035; 1,913,840; and 2,358,257 and reads: "REMINGTON ARMS CO., INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A."
The rifle features a 25-inch blued steel barrel and a blued steel receiver. The stock is walnut with a straight comb and a broad, beavertail fore-end that aids control from supported positions. Sling swivels are installed for carry or use with target slings.
A Lyman receiver-mounted micrometer aperture rear sight pairs with an unhooded blade front sight on a ramp, providing a precise, adjustable sight picture well-suited to small-bore target work.
The Junior Special configuration includes a 13-inch length of pull and a target-style stock with an accessory/handstop rail under the fore-end. The action uses a detachable-box magazine system; no magazine is provided.
