The Scout Squad configuration uses a gas-operated, short-stroke piston action derived from the M14, paired with a 16.25 inch carbon steel barrel. The barrel carries 6-groove rifling with a 1:11 RH twist and is marked .308. A cylindrical, vented Scout-style muzzle brake helps manage recoil and muzzle movement.
Sighting equipment is classic M14 pattern: a protected blade front on a banded base and an adjustable aperture rear with windage and elevation knobs. A forward barrel-mounted Picatinny scout rail sits ahead of the receiver, integrated into the polymer handguard.
The rifle employs an NM-tuned two-stage trigger for a clean, predictable pull. The receiver is AISI 8620 steel with a desert tan/brown sprayed finish to match the stock. Overall length is approximately 40.33 inches, and weight is about 9 lb 3 oz.
The composite stock in desert tan/brown includes molded checkering at the pistol grip and forend, an integral rubber buttpad, and a fixed rear sling loop. Capacity is 20+1 with M14-pattern box magazines, and this example includes 20-, 15-, and 10-round steel magazines.
