The I-12 uses an inertia-driven action with a rotating bolt and right-side ejection, delivering clean cycling with a straightforward mechanism. A cross-bolt safety is positioned at the trigger guard. The magazine cap includes an integral front sling-swivel stud for easy sling attachment.
The 28 inch barrel carries a ventilated rib and a red fiber-optic front bead for quick sight acquisition. It accepts standard Franchi screw-in chokes.
The chamber is 3 inch (12/76), marked for use with both 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. As configured, the capacity is 2+1. The matte-finished metalwork complements the synthetic furniture for a practical, field-ready profile.
The stock and fore-end are synthetic with molded checkering for traction, a pistol-grip profile for control, and a recoil pad for comfort. Length of pull is 14.5 inches, offering a straightforward fit for a wide range of shooters.
Proof and import markings include Italian proofs, "Benelli Armi S.p.A. – Made in Italy," and "Benelli U.S.A. CORP., Accokeek, Md," underscoring the gun’s Italian manufacture and U.S. import history. The I-12 line was later succeeded by the Affinity/Intensity series.
