Manufactured in 1990 by Auto-Ordnance in West Hurley, New York, this Model of 1927A1 Deluxe is a pre-ban semi-automatic Thompson carbine. It is chambered in .45 ACP and operates from a closed bolt with blowback action, preserving the look and handling of the classic Thompson while remaining semi-automatic.
The carbine is built with a finned 16.5-inch barrel capped by a Cutts-type compensator. Iron sights include a front blade on the compensator and a rear open sight with protective ears for durability and a clean sight picture. The top-mounted knurled actuator maintains the iconic Thompson layout.
Construction is steel throughout the receiver and frame, paired with wood furniture. The rifle uses a detachable wood buttstock that locks in place via a slide/latch, a wood pistol grip, and a vertical foregrip with finger grooves. Length of pull is 17 inches, giving it the long-stock Thompson profile.
The detachable magazine system is compatible with drum magazines, and this example includes a West Hurley-marked 50-round drum. Capacity is up to 50+1 with the drum installed, providing the period-correct configuration enthusiasts expect from a Deluxe 1927A1.
