Product Description

FN Model 1924 Yugoslav Contract Short Rifle, 7.92x57mm Mauser, 23-inch Barrel, Mauser 98 Action, Belgian Production (1926–1928)

FN Herstal produced this Model 1924 short rifle under the Royal Yugoslav contract, identifiable by its crest and Cyrillic "МОДЕЛ 1924" on the receiver ring. Chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser with a 23-inch barrel and a Mauser 98-type controlled-round-feed action, it combines classic military features with contract-specific markings and hardware from the late 1920s Belgian production window.

    Condition

    Overall Condition: Poor condition.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There are significant markings and rust throughout from previous handling and use. The bore is bright and clean. The bolt does not function correctly and needs gunsmith evaluation before firing. There is a small crack starting near the left side of the trigger housing. A small screw is missing from the bottom of the lower assembly by the magwell.

    There is no box magazine.

    What’s Included

    • FN Model 1924 Yugoslav Contract Short Rifle chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser

This short-rifle configuration features a 23-inch barrel, an internal 5-round magazine fed by stripper clips (5+1 capacity), and a Mauser 98-type controlled-round-feed action with a charger guide. The receiver ring carries the Royal Yugoslav coat of arms over the Cyrillic legend "МОДЕЛ 1924," marking it as a contract rifle delivered in the 1926–1928 window.

Furniture includes a full-length hardwood stock with an oil finish, a separate upper handguard, and crossbolt reinforcement with no finger grooves. Hardware is blued steel with a smooth steel buttplate. Sling equipment consists of a left-side fore-end sling bar, a front band loop, and a bottom butt swivel. The H-style nose band integrates a bayonet bar compatible with M1924-pattern bayonets. The cleaning-rod channel is present; the rod is not installed.

Sights are military iron sights: an unhooded blade on a block base up front and a tangent-leaf rear with a sliding elevation cursor. A 3-position flag safety is fitted to the bolt shroud.

Origin is Belgium, manufactured by FN Herstal. The receiver bears an A-prefix serial, and the bolt is mismatched. Length of pull measures 13.0 inches. The rifle retains a blued finish on the steel receiver and components, consistent with its 1920s production era.
