What’s Included
- Colt Single Action Army Second Generation revolver (.38 Special, 5.5 inch)
Built in the USA during the 1950s, this revolver is a Second-Generation SAA identifiable by its SA-suffix serial format. The .38 Special chambering is a documented offering from 1956–1964 and is encountered less frequently than .45 Colt in this period.
The revolver uses a 5.5 inch carbon steel barrel, often referred to as the Artillery length, with fixed sights consisting of a blade front and an integral rear notch in the topstrap. The six-shot cylinder and single-action mechanism preserve the classic handling characteristics associated with the Model P.
Its finishes are true to form: a color case-hardened frame and receiver matched to a blued barrel and cylinder. Checkered black hard-rubber grips with Rampant Colt medallions complete the factory-style configuration.
Notable production and assembly marks include a P inspector/assembly mark ahead of the trigger guard on the left side of the frame and a 5 assembly mark on the underside of the trigger guard. The bore condition is excellent, with sharp rifling and a clean, mirror-like interior.
