What’s Included
- J.C. Higgins Model 11 (583.1101) 20 gauge bolt-action shotgun
Built by High Standard for Sears under the J.C. Higgins brand, this Model 11 corresponds to catalog number 583.1101 and aligns with the period practice of private-label production. It was produced in the United States during the late 1950s to early 1960s and typically does not carry a serial number, which is consistent with this example.
The shotgun uses a bolt-action design paired with a tubular magazine and bottom loading port, providing a 2+1 capacity in 20 gauge. The chamber is cut for 2 3/4 inch shells, and feeding is controlled and deliberate, as expected from a bolt-operated repeater of this era.
The 22 inch steel barrel is finished in blue and capped with a ramped front bead. There is no rear sight. The receiver is steel with a matching blued finish for a cohesive look.
The hardwood stock features a straight comb, small pistol grip, and plain fore-end, completed by a hard rubber buttplate bearing the J.C. Higgins logo. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches, offering a traditional fit for field use.
This Model 11 is not part of the 1998 Sears Model 10 recall.
