Manufactured at the VEB Ernst Thälmann plant in Suhl, this pistol is a 1962 production example identified by its BV serial prefix and 62 year code. There is no Simon-Suhl marking, indicating production during the East vs West German split pre-unification. Markings include a boxed K100 acceptance mark, a lozenge/diamond inspection mark, a lowercase y stamp, and a C.D.I. Swan, VT import stamp.
Operating features are true to the Makarov PM pattern: DA/SA, straight blowback with a fixed barrel, and a slide-mounted safety/decocker. It uses an external spur hammer and has an 8+1 capacity. A lanyard loop is fitted at the grip base.
The slide carries top anti-glare serrations and rear grasping serrations. Sights are fixed, with a front blade integral to the slide and a rear notch that is drift-adjustable. Barrel length is approximately 3.68 in, and overall length is approximately 6.36 in.
The pistol is built on a steel frame and receiver with a blued/black finish. The finish presents a high-polish appearance, and small parts may show a plum hue, observed on the hammer. A one-piece wrap-around textured synthetic grip is installed.
This example aligns with East German military and police configuration and was imported into the U.S., as denoted by the C.D.I. Swan, VT import mark. The 1962 date code and BV prefix are consistent with that year’s DDR serial blocks, adding clear production provenance.
