Built in 1927 per Ithaca serial records, this Field Grade NID represents the company’s robust final-era double, employing the strong single rotary top bolt design. It is made in the United States and carries the plain, unengraved Field Grade frame with the "ITHACA GUN CO. ITHACA, N.Y." rollmark.
The 30-inch barrels are marked "SMOKELESS POWDER STEEL" and "MADE IN U.S.A." with decorative wavy borders. A full-length solid matted rib and a single small brass front bead provide a clean, glare-reducing sighting plane.
The side-by-side break-action layout uses double, non-selective triggers and a manual tang safety, with a two-round capacity. This straightforward setup reflects the Field Grade’s focus on durability and practical function.
The walnut stock has a pistol grip and checkering for secure handling, paired with a splinter forend secured by a Deeley-type latch. Length of pull measures 15.0 inches, aided by the installed lace-on leather butt extension/pad.
Additional observed details include an "F" stamp near a serial in the 440xxx range, aligning with 1927 production. The NID series ran from 1926 to 1948 and is well-regarded for its sturdy construction and clean, serviceable design.
