This Government Model MK IV/Series 70 is the civilian counterpart to the M1911A1, built in the United States and chambered in .38 Super. It carries the classic Series 70 design without a firing pin safety, prized by many for its straightforward internals and clean trigger characteristics.
The pistol uses a single-action, short-recoil, locked-breech system with a 5" barrel. Controls are traditional: a standard checkered magazine release, manual thumb safety, and grip safety. The trigger is the short, solid style paired with a wide spur hammer, staying true to period-correct features.
Sights are GI-style with a staked front blade and a small square‑notch rear in a dovetail. The slide retains its original-style ejection port (not lowered), a detail consistent with Series 70 configuration and era. Checkered walnut grips with gold Colt medallions complete the classic look.
Construction is all carbon steel with a polished blue finish on the flats and matte rounds, delivering the distinctive Series 70 appearance. Capacity is 8+1 in .38 Super, and this chambering is less common within Series 70 production. MFG. 1979.
