The Model 60-7 is part of the lineage that began with the Model 60 in 1965, the first regular-production stainless revolver. The 60-7 variant marks the .38 Special–only era within the J-frame series prior to the 1996 transition to the J-Magnum frame.
Built on the compact J-frame, this 5-shot revolver features a 1.875 inch stainless-steel barrel, a brushed stainless frame and cylinder, and an exposed hammer for double-action/single-action operation. Sights are fixed, with an integral serrated ramp front and a rear notch in the topstrap.
Functional details include a short, knurled ejector rod with a front locking lug, a checkered cylinder latch, and a checkered hammer spur. The model stamp "M 60-7" appears inside the crane cut. The right side of the frame bears the S&W "TRADE MARK" logo and "MADE IN U.S.A." marking.
This example is fitted with aftermarket Hogue Monogrip rubber finger-groove grips. The revolver retains its brushed stainless finish throughout the frame, barrel, and cylinder.
