The six-lug Mark V Varmintmaster action uses a fluted bolt body and a short 54-degree bolt lift for smooth cycling. Chambered for .224 Weatherby Magnum, it feeds from an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, offering a 3+1 capacity. The 26-inch polished blued steel barrel features a smooth recessed crown.
The stock is classic Weatherby: high-gloss walnut with a Monte Carlo comb and skip-line checkering for a confident hold. Distinctive appointments include a rosewood forend tip and grip cap with pale spacer lines, a white-diamond grip-cap inlay, and black/white line spacers at the butt. A Weatherby-branded basketweave recoil pad and sling swivel studs with QD loops are installed. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
The receiver is drilled and tapped and is outfitted with Buehler steel bases and rings (Orinda, Calif.). There are no iron sights. Rollmarks include “MARK V VARMINTMASTER” and “USE ONLY WEATHERBY .224 W.M.”
Production markings read “Weatherby — South Gate Calif. — Made in Japan,” placing this rifle in the Japan production era (1972–1994). The rifle is finished in a deep, polished blue and configured as a full-size Mark V Varmintmaster. A two-position, bolt-mounted safety is standard.
