The Mosquito is a compact .22 LR pistol designed as a trainer patterned after the P226 at roughly 90% scale. This example features the standard 3.9 in barrel in a non-threaded configuration and a 10+1 capacity, making it a handy rimfire companion with familiar ergonomics.
It uses a blowback-operated, hammer-fired DA/SA system with an external spurred hammer. Controls include a slide-mounted ambidextrous manual safety and a separate decocking lever. Additional safety features include a magazine disconnect and an integral key-operated safety lock.
The reverse two-tone finish pairs a light gray polymer frame with a dark slide. A textured wraparound polymer grip provides a sure hold. An integral accessory rail with three slots supports mounting compatible lights or accessories.
Three-dot yellow sights aid visibility, with a windage-adjustable rear and interchangeable-height front blades for elevation tuning. The pistol is marked "MADE IN GERMANY" with German proof marks and the SIG SAUER INC EXETER - NH import mark. Produced in Germany for SIG by GSG from 2003 to 2013, this design was later marketed by GSG as the Firefly.
