The Model 1400 MK II uses a gas-operated action with the gas system located in the forward magazine tube, which limits total capacity to three rounds. An action release button sits ahead of the trigger guard for easy manipulation. The bolt is engine-turned for a clean, distinctive appearance.
The 28-inch barrel is Winchester Proof Steel with a vent rib and matte rib top. It is chambered for 2 3/4-inch shells and uses the WinChoke screw-in choke system. A single front bead provides a clear sight picture.
The receiver is aluminum alloy with a polished blued finish, matched by the shotgun’s overall blued metalwork. Factory barrel markings include Winchester—Made in U.S.A., Model 1400, 12 GA, 2 3/4 CHAM, Winchester Proof Steel, WinChoke, and Winchester New Haven, Conn., aligning with the MK II series marking on the receiver.
The walnut stock features a pistol grip and machine checkering for consistent purchase. An aftermarket red ventilated rubber recoil pad with a white line spacer is installed, setting the length of pull at 14.0 inches.
Made in the United States during the late 1960s–early 1970s, this MK II configuration brings together classic Winchester construction, a jeweled bolt, and practical field features in a clean, straightforward semi-automatic package.
