Manufactured by FN in Belgium and assembled in Portugal, this Mark II Safari carries the correct Browning rollmarks: "MADE IN BELGIUM – ASSEMBLED IN PORTUGAL," "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q.," and "BROWNING S.A." The receiver is polished blued steel with factory-applied scroll engraving and a central "SAFARI" cartouche on both sides.
The rifle uses Browning’s BAR gas-operated, short-stroke piston system. It is chambered in .300 Win. Mag. and fitted with a 24-inch hammer-forged sporter-profile barrel. The 1:10 twist is appropriate for a broad range of .30-caliber bullet weights.
Furniture consists of a high-gloss walnut stock and matching walnut fore-end, both with cut checkering. A Browning buttplate/pad complements the classic Safari presentation.
The receiver is drilled and tapped at the factory, and this rifle has two-piece scope bases and 1-inch rings installed. There are no iron sights.
The BAR Mark II Safari uses a detachable box magazine retained by a hinged floorplate, a distinctive design element of this series.
