What’s Included
- Winchester Model 1895 Sporting Rifle (solid frame) chambered in .30-40 Krag with 28-inch round Nickel Steel barrel
- Receiver-mounted aperture rear sight (installed)
- Barrel rear dovetail filler blank (installed)
The Model 1895 Sporting Rifle configuration delivers Winchester’s later lever-action design with an internal single-stack box magazine, top loading, and top ejection. This example is chambered in .30 U.S. (.30-40 Krag) with a 5-round capacity, combining period-correct chambering and a practical magazine system.
The 28-inch round Nickel Steel barrel is factory-marked "NICKEL STEEL BARREL ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER," matching the era’s smokeless powder standards. Caliber markings read "30 U.S." on the barrel, aligning with the rifle’s .30-40 Krag chambering.
Sighting is set up with a receiver-mounted aperture rear sight featuring a vertical elevation slide, paired with a blade front sight on a short base. The original barrel rear dovetail has been filled with a blank. The stock set includes a straight-grip, non-checkered wood butt with a steel crescent buttplate and a slim wood fore-end with a nose cap. Length of pull measures 13 inches.
Markings include Winchester oval WP proofs on the barrel and receiver. This rifle was manufactured in 1905 in the United States. Non-factory hand-engraved/etched characters "MJT S220901" are present on the underside of the barrel/fore-end, and the receiver-mounted aperture sight represents a period-appropriate upgrade.
