The Model 66-1 represents the first engineering change to the stainless Combat Magnum, moving the gas ring to the cylinder. This example aligns with late-1970s production, with a 50K serial prefix typical of the 1978–1979 period.
The 4-inch stainless steel barrel is pinned and carries a serrated top rib. The extractor rod is shrouded by an underlug, giving the revolver the classic Combat Magnum profile and protecting the rod during use.
Controls and sighting gear are well appointed: it has a smooth-face trigger for DA/SA operation and a checkered hammer spur for positive cocking. Sight configuration includes a cross-pinned red-ramp front sight and an adjustable rear sight with a black blade.
Construction is all stainless steel for the frame, cylinder, and barrel, with a uniform stainless finish. The revolver is fitted with aftermarket Pachmayr Presentation black rubber stocks that provide a secure, checkered grip profile.
