- Barella Model 1893 single-shot pistol
Patented as D.R.Pat. 73855, the Model 1893 uses a hammerless break-action design that tips the barrel upward for loading a single .22 Short cartridge. The internal striker and single trigger keep the profile clean while maintaining reliable ignition.
Factory scroll and floral engraving covers the steel frame, side-plates, and butt-cap, with a monogrammed butt-cap plate adding a personalized touch. The work is crisp and evenly executed, reflecting skilled Suhl artistry of the era.
The 11-inch barrel transitions from octagon to round, offering an extended sight radius that pairs with the dovetailed blade front sight and standing V-notch rear sight. Proof-load markings and Crown/B, Crown/U, Crown/G, plus inspector number 327 confirm pre-1912 German proofing and its antique status.
A walnut grip with wrap-around checkering provides a secure hold, while the in-the-white steel finish gives the pistol a classic utilitarian look. Collectors will appreciate the absence of the later Crown/N nitro proof, underscoring its authentic pre-WWI manufacture.
