What’s Included
- Winchester Model 70 Pre-64 Standard Rifle in .30-06 with 24-inch barrel
- Installed front scope base (base marked "561387")
The Pre-64 controlled-round-feed action uses a full-length Mauser-type claw extractor and a fixed ejector, offering reliable feeding and extraction. A three-position wing safety provides positive control of the firing mechanism. The receiver bears New Haven manufacture and the barrel rollmark includes "Winchester Proof Steel."
The 24-inch steel barrel is finished in blue and set up with open sights: a ramped, hooded front sight with a dovetailed blade and a barrel-mounted open rear sight with an elevator. The steel receiver is blued to match and is drilled and tapped for scope bases.
The walnut stock follows the Standard Rifle configuration with a straight comb and no cheekpiece. It features cut checkering at the grip and fore-end in a point pattern, plus a checkered metal buttplate. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
A hinged floorplate governs the internal 4-round magazine. An installed front scope base is present on the receiver; the base is stamped "561387" (this is a marking on the base, not a factory serial number).
Overall condition is very good with light handling marks and surface scratches as noted, and the bore is excellent with a clean, mirror finish and sharp rifling. This configuration, year, and condition make it a strong example of a late Pre-64 Standard Rifle.
