This Type IV variant retains the internal (concealed) hammer design and operates via a straight blowback, single-action mechanism. Safety features include a manual thumb safety, a grip safety, and a magazine disconnect. Capacity is 8+1 with the included steel single-stack magazine.
The pistol wears a blued finish on its carbon steel frame and slide. Handling features include rear-only vertical slide serrations and top ejection. It uses fixed sights with a half-moon front blade and a square-notch rear set into a transverse dovetail.
Barrel length is 3.75 inches, and the muzzle has no separate barrel bushing. The classic takedown is performed by aligning the slide mark and rotating the barrel. Grips are checkered walnut with Colt medallions, consistent with the model’s period configuration.
Markings and proofs include the right-side slide legend "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS," a triangle proof on the left front trigger guard bow, assembler/inspection numeral "74" on the right trigger guard bow, and a "K" inspection stamp at the front right of the frame/slide juncture near the muzzle. Origin is the United States, with this example representing the 1930s production era.
