The rifle uses the standard gas-operated, semi-automatic action paired with a top-loading internal magazine configured for 8-round en-bloc clips. The gas cylinder is located at the muzzle without a bayonet-lug projection, and the gas cylinder lock screw has the star-shaped recess associated with this period.
Furniture consists of a hardwood stock with two upper handguards and a steel, checkered buttplate with a hinged trap door. A stacking swivel and front sling swivel are present. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
Iron sights include a wing-protected front post and an adjustable rear aperture with protective ears. The rear sight provides windage and elevation adjustments via its knobs, offering precise, repeatable settings.
Built by Springfield Armory in the United States during WWII, this rifle represents a 1942 production example in excellent condition. It combines correct wartime features with clean mechanical and bore characteristics.
